[Sodium_noir] Pizza for Two - Hope

Inside Hope, Cody Police Officers 
 
"Zagorski. Brannigan." he acknowledged with a grunt. "You call this in?" 
Hope assesses the veteran cop. She knew him from when she'd been stationed at the 13th. He wasn't the meanest of the bunch, but he wasn't exactly the nicest. The rookie she didn't know at all. The sarge had probably gotten him to plug the hole her departure had left in the roster. 
"Yeah, Mahoney. We called it in." She starts to try to explain what had happened. "This kid came waltzing in here with a sword. We asked him some questions, and he rabbited." 
"Really?" the vet asked, seemingly more interest all of a sudden. "With a sword huh? Could be the same one had all the donuts eaters jumping in Darktown a little while ago. 'course you two being in here, all snug as a bug wouldn't have caught the APB I guess. Kid on a motorcycle with a sword 'cross his back, sought in regard to an earlier incident, alert the brass if you catch up to him."
Hope frowns as she learns that the kid might have been the subject of an APB.  And she'd let him slip through their fingers.  It was interesting that Mahoney didn't seem to know that she'd been put on leave.  That sort of thing should have travelled back to her old precinct fast.  "We're off duty, Mahoney."  She casts an eye to the beer bottles sitting nearby.  But she is quick to realize what that could mean, and adds "He invited me to have a beer."  A lie, but somehow she didn't think Mahoney was the sort that thought it was okay for girls to invite guys.   
He pulls up a near by seat and indicates for the rookie to follow suit. 
"One of them, 'heat from above' kinda requests. Kid either cut up the major or didn't have the right change." He grins. "What'd he say to you'se two? anything enlightenin'?"
>From above?  How high?  Hope wonders.  Gordon hadn't mentioned this to her.  Had he said something to Cody?  No, he would have tried harder to stop the kid.  "He didn't say much of anything before he ran."  Let Cody mention the vampiric foot soldiers remark, she didn't need any more problems.  Deny the Impossible
