"Why yes," Ettienne sang in something between a french and a Highland accent. "Buford, I would love to introduce to you miss Sugar Kane. The next big thing!"

Buford sees it instantly, the confusion int he Primogens manner. The whole concept of introducing a mortal to a masquerade breaking entity like Buford had completely escaped him. Only now had it dawned on him. 

You could perhaps excuse such stupidity in a neonate, or at least understand it. But Ettienne St Clair was not only the longest serving primogen in Gotham, he was according to Rumour, the real power behind the throne. One only had to look around the city to see his flair for organisationa nd manipulation. His attention to detail.

To have come so close to causing a scene .... Buford suddenly felt as if he'd learned a monumental secret, one that didn't entirely warm his unbeating heart. 

" .. Oh, yes, well he seems to have stepped out. Of course. But then .... Sugar, my dear ... where was I? Of course, of course. I thought perhaps you would sing for us tonight? Maybe on the terrace there?" he points to the spot outside the main doors, just visable and audiable from in here. Now sporting a broken pot plant and a few guests.
