Sinclair Mansion
1 - 3am

Mara, Bradley, Sandra, Christine
Vamp, Mortal, Bastet, Mage

> [Bradley]
> Bradley politely stepped back and chatted with Lady Sinclair while
> Mara spoke on the telephone. Taking a phone call in the middle of
> a conversation was incredibly rude, but luckily Allen Bradley
> didn’t share his employer’s obsessions with formality and proper
> behavior. Truth be told, he didn’t think very much of it. While
> Mara was occupied with giving directions over the phone, he moved a
> slight bit closer to Lady Sinclair, situating himself so that their
> previous three-way conversation was now limited to two people.
>
> He thought of making an excuse and heading home to his daughters,
> but they were in good hands with the nanny. Instead, he carried on
> their previous conversation while waiting for Ms. Ravenclaw to get
> off the phone.

> [Mara]
> Mara replies. "Au revoir." She closes the phone and then turns to
> Lady Sinclair and Mr. Bradley. "My apologies." She offers to
> them. "But I had to take that call."

> [Christine]
> Christine proceeds carefully, now making a conscious effort to at
> least appear mostly together. Pale, jaw set, she threads her way
> along the route Mara described - as far as she can remember it
> anyhow. Slipping through a partly opened door, Christine does
> indeed spot Mara and Marguerite Sinclair; a couple of other people
> she doesn't immediately recognise. Christine glances up at Sandra.
> "Here goes nothin', " she mutters, begins to walk toward her former
> employer.

> [Sandra]
> Sandra waits a polite distance behind with her best socialite smile
> as she waits for Christine to make the first moves. She wanted to
> get a feel for the personalities she would be dealing with, quietly
> prayed that whatever was going on between her newfound charge and
> this Mara Ravenclaw would go smoothly.

> [Mara]
> Finally Mara catches sight of Christine. She keeps her face set in
> a carefully neutral expression. She was not going to fight with
> Christine in public. Not if she could help it...

[Christine]
Christine approaches Mara, Lady Sinclair and the other party goer she
doesn't recognise. She is aware of Sandra's graceful presence close
to and this does help her confidence. At least Sandra's effortless
glamour gives Christine some camouflage; a little reflected poise
and sparkle. Makes her feels marginally less like a thistle in an
orchid house.

Mara is wearing her social face; means she probably *is* going to
play nice for the company. Kinda. Maybe Christine can manage that
too, what the hell? It would be better. Any fight right now is bound
to turn extremely ugly, given Christine's fragile hold on her Molotov
temper. She takes a deep breath.

"Mara, Lady Sinclair," Christine nods and smiles tightly at the
Gotham socialite and also at the unknown man in impeccable if
unostentatious evening wear. "Er," Christine glances at Sandra
briefly, "this is . . . "

[Sandra]
Sandra steps forward.. "Sandra Scoland," she says with a charmed
smile. She'd been in these types of settings more than once in her
line of work. "Antiquities Broker. A pleasure," she says with social
grace.

"Let me commend you on a fabulous celebration Lady Sinclair," she
says. "This place is magnificent."

Sandra plays interceptor for Christine as she looks to gain the
attention of the Hostess and the gentleman accompanying her.

[Christine]
Christine watches Sandra shimmer into action with profound gratitude.
She manages to catch Mara's eye as Sandra smilingly snares the small
group's attention. Need to talk, her own eyes signal.
