Cody's words snap Hope back to attentiveness. "You're the one that's been with Gotham P.D. the longest." Hope replies. "You tell me what usually happens to a guy like that. Chicago, it's usually a quick trip to the funny farm." The flip comment makes Hope's blood run cold as she remembers talk of similiar run-ins that got the cop in question a trip to the office of the Rat Squad. A trip the officer never talked about afterward. 

Seemingly unsure of what to say for a moment, cody bites his lip. But then plunges on, seeming to make a 'what the hell, she's my partner' descision.

"In Gotham they usually have a funny way of disapearing!" he sighed. "Sure they are destined for Arkham, or some nut house upstate, but they rarely ever get there. Drawing attention to 'Gotham's odd stuff' is often a sure fire way to get dissapeared in one way or another!"

"What do you mean by that?" Hope asks innocently. This perhaps was her chance to ask him about how much he really knew about the things called vampires... 

"Nobody talks about it!" He grunts, leaning forward and dropping his voice. "its like this big pink damn Elephant in the room but nobody talks about it. We've got real fricking Voodoo in dark town, honest to goodness satanists in the Downtown gngs. There's more bodies show up in the morgue with all the blood gone, exsanguinated, than its best to think about. I've seen people who cross the Unions brought home in doggy bags and the local gang boses would rather take it in the rear as some guys punk in the slammer than turn stool pigeon. There are things in Gotham's shadows you'd laugh your ass off if you saw them in a movie!"
